While we were in The Keys, we drove down to Key West. We didn't stay there because the place where my Dad's star party was being held was about 50 miles away. Sooo we stayed in Marathon because it was easier for him to drive back and forth. We did, however, take a day trip to Key West since Dan and I had never been there before. It's pretty crazy that all of the keys are connected by bridges, like the 7 Mile Bridge... very cool!
I must say, Key West is a pretty cool little place! I mean, there are freakin' chickens running around the streets like squirrels and pigeons walking around the floor of our restaurant like they were regular patrons! It was very neat! We ate at The Southernmost Cafe and I had the best caprese salad ever, even though you can't really have a bad caprese salad, but this one came with like a full mozzarella ball and I love cheese so yea... it was all good! We didn't stay down there all day but we did walk around a bit and went to the light house, (not in it, but to it) and we took a tour of Ernest Hemingway's Key West home. That was pretty awesome because there are like 60 cats running around (not to mention the fact that Hemingway lived there, duh) the property and they are all descendant of the six toed cat that Hemingway owned. It was like a cat preserve or something!! They had all of these cat condos everywhere! It was very cool! I love cats and I had to pet every one I saw! We were going to go to the Harry S. Truman Little White House but we didn't have time.
Anyway, here are some of the pics from our day!
It was great fun, and we did miss all of the freezing cold snowy days at home so I'd mark that as a win! Back to work tonight, on my second day at the new job! I'm really excited about it! Yesterday seemed to go really well. I'm ready to get finished with the training and get all in. I like being busy!!
Happy day y'all!!
