My Views on Food... Warning Graphic Videos!

I have really been struggling lately with food. What to eat, what not to eat. I have officially become a vegan. I will no longer be eating red meat, pork, chicken, turkey or fish. But I basically don't eat much meat anyways. I haven't been able to get a taste for almond milk or soy milk yet. Although I don't mind it in my smoothies, and we don't drink much milk anyways.
I want to warn you that all of these videos are very graphic, violent, and just plain sad!
But, I feel everyone deserves to know the truth!

Poor Calves!!!
There is no need for this cruelty!!

Lately, I've been eating lots of Quinoa, (my husband calls it keen-ya, lol!) black beans, avocado, pasta with marinara and black olives. I'll eat yummy oat nut toast in the mornings with jam. I just feel like this is just the natural next step in my trying to live an all natural lifestyle.

You really have to be aware of what you put into your body these days! I feel so bad for the way the animals are treated in the slaughter houses. The chickens that are fed so many hormones to grow bigger breasts that they can't even stand on their own two feet. They're just lying in there in there own fecal matter that typically doesn't even get cleaned out for 2 or 3 years!! How is this good for us or them?!

These poor chickens!!!

I can't wait for the cookbook of another blogger to come out. Drea from ohdeardrea, she's a vegan and I've drooled over several of her recipes on her blog. Salads with no meat. Vegetable soups of all kinds with no meat! I'm excited for this journey, although my husband is a definite meat eater and hunter, and I don't really know how I feel about that. Animals in the wild aren't treated badly or pumped full of hormones or fed gmo products, but they still have feelings and maybe even families! And I also have family that raise cows. They are treated wonderfully, but when a calf is born it is usually sold after a few months, and the Momma cow cries and wails for days! So, these animals do have feelings whether we as humans want to believe it or not.

I started out thinking I will just be a pescatarian, but after watching the video above I changed my mind real quick. Then I thought well I'll be a vegetarian, but milk, eggs, and cheese? They still come from these animals. I love cheese, soooo much but they do make a vegan cheese. Here is a vegan cashew cheese recipe that I'm curious to try. My hubby is definitely on board with mostly eating vegan, but says he may want to eat meat from time to time. I mean, we do have a freezer full of meat still, but I don't even want to cook it. I told him, if he wants it, he's going to have to cook it himself!
Maybe that makes me a terrible wife but, it is what it is.
