Black and White and Capsule Wardrobes

fall black and whites

I'm not really sure when I stopped wearing lots of color but I have to say I rarely find myself thinking, "Oh, I think I'll wear this bright pink shirt today." I am just a big fan of neutrals (think creams and browns) and black and white. Sure, I have a ton of colors in my closet but I never reach for any of it, (I'm thinking a purge is in order soon!) and if I do it's definitely in the spring and summer months. I'm sure a lot of you gals out there are the same way. Something about fall and winter just makes me want to wear darker colors. This season I've noticed that "capsule wardrobes" are making their way back into closets across the nation. With a capsule wardrobe you pick however many "staple" items that you stick with for that season, that can be interchangeable with each other. Here is a way better explanation!
I am planning on a capsule wardrobe this season. (and the next, and the next) This will help the great purge of my closet come along much more easily, and hopefully keep me from buying the crap that I end up never wearing.
I mean, I basically already do this because I basically wear the same shit over and over anyways, but I have wanted to minimize the crap for a while and I'm terrible at that! I see it, I want it, I buy it, much to the dismay of my poor husband! So see, a capsule will be good for him too!!
What are your thoughts on capsule wardrobes? Do you love it or hate it?

Edit:
Here are some of my capsule inspirations:
