Anxiety and Sleep Disorder and All That Fun Stuff...

So I have a been a long time sufferer of anxiety and insomnia, and panic attacks and what not. I have taken loads of prescription meds (not to mention some self medicating here and there) and while they do work, they always leave me feeling like a bit of a zombie afterwards. I had a pretty terrible panic attack at the beginning of the week so I decided I better get to the doctor. Since I'm new to the area and didn't have a family physician yet, I asked my husbands aunt if she could recommend someone. She gave me the name of her doctor and luckily he was on our insurance plan. I checked out his website and I really liked what I read, so I made an appointment. 

I went today, and he was just like a breath of fresh air! Most doctors I've been to are so busy that when they come in to see you they barely even make eye contact. Not Dr. Cleveland! He spent a good twenty minutes talking to me about my issues, trying to come up with a plan of action. He isn't a Holistic doctor, but he likes to take the natural route first, which I was completely on board with! We talked a lot about nutrition, and neurotransmitters, (GABA and serotonin in my case) and exercise.  Eating your protein and all that mess. I really felt like he really cares about his patients, not like my last doctor who changed my prescription without even saying a word to me! (UGH) So he got me set up with some nutritional supplements and recommended that I get one of those lights to balance my body clock and get my circadian rhythm back on track. 

He suggested that I try this out for a couple of weeks and then get back with him. So hopefully this will all work out and I won't have to take xanax everyday, but I mean sometimes a xanax sure does help!! But we'll see and I'll let you guys know if it works or not!!


This guy has no trouble at all sleeping!!!
