The Berriest Berry Pie Ever!

Ok so let's just face reality here, I Do Not bake... EVER! Dan and I don't really eat a lot of sweets. (unless you count oatmeal creme pies!) We like things more on the savory side, but I had soooo many strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries! I tried to eat them all but I could see them coming to the end of their short lives, so what do you do? You make a pie!!!

Whaaat!? I've never made a pie before, but hey, there's a first time for everything, right?

I washed all of the berries, cut the strawberries in half, and then sprinkled sugar all over the berries. I didn't measure anything. I really was just winging it. I did check online for recipes and most of them called for cornstarch. I didn't have cornstarch. Oh well...

I bought ready made pie crusts at the grocery store. ( Thank God for Pilsbury, right?)

I put the first crust in my pie plate and pressed it to the bottom and sides, and then put the berry mixture in.

I would've loved to have been brave enough to do that pretty lattice type top crust but I just decided to stick with the basic full crust. I did try to do a nice slit design though! :) I didn't get that pretty ruffled edge but I suppose it will still taste good enough. I hope.

The pie crust package says to place foil around the edges after 15-20 minutes of baking. I tried to do that but I couldn't get it to stay on and I also burned my fingers a little. Needless to say my edge turned out a little more brown that it would've if I had gotten that darn foil on.

I baked my pie for 25 minutes in a preheated 425 degree oven.

Let it cool for about an hour! Then eat berriest berry pie you've ever tasted!

side note: the cornstarch probably would have helped hold the filling together better. It might not have been a perfectly triangular slice of pie, but it sure did taste good!
