New York, New York... How I Miss Thee...
There's something so magical about New York City. It's so full of culture from all around the world. There are so many museums and parks and things to do that it's hard to do everything you'd like to do in one single trip. I've been begging Dan to take me there on vacation one day, but it is definitely not his cup of tea!! I've been a couple times and each time it's like a whole new city. The first time I was there we went on a boat tour around the tiny island of Manhattan and then out to the Statue of Liberty. It was very emotional for me. I'm not sure why but I got completely choked up! We also went to Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Modern Art, both equally enjoyable for me! We also went up to the top of the Empire State Building at night, which is probably one of the coolest things I've ever seen!
My friend Amanda and I took a day to ourselves to walk around the city and boy did we walk! (and walk, and walk, and walk) We walked on the street where Carrie Bradshaw lived, and saw the building that Daniel Radcliff (Harry Potter) lived in. We went to the Bowery Ballroom, and went for dollar pizza slices in SoHo. We got lost several times, sometimes in some pretty questionable areas! We went to a nice little bar in Hell's Kitchen where we met some pretty interesting peeps. We really did have a great time and we managed to squeeze quite a bit of fun into a 5 day trip!
The second time I went was with my friend Heather. This was a total spur of the moment trip! We were sitting around talking about what we should do that day and the next thing we knew we were driving to NYC!!! It's only about a 6 hour drive from Canton, but I don't recommend driving IN the city, especially if you don't know your way around. We had a GPS and our smart phones but I think they just confused us more than they helped! This trip was filled with crazy adventures and hijinks by the Heathers. We stayed in hostels, which was honestly not as scary as it sounds. ( for those of you who have seen that movie Hostel) We met an awesome guy in Central Park that showed us around to some places that we would have never seen otherwise. (We are forever facebook friends now!) We had a lot of fun that trip even though we were only there for three days.
I really hope that one day I can get Dan to go and not be a Mr. Grump Butt. (He's such a country boy!) I am missing you New York!!! Until we meet again!!!
P.S. Disregard that large yellow date on some of the pics. I've tried and tried to get it off but as you can see that didn't happen!
